In this workshop, a career book editor with experience as a development editor in major New York publishing houses, including McGraw-Hill, Fairchild/Condé Nast, Springer, LA-based Level4Press, will give a brief talk and be open for questions about the publishing industry.

Topics for this virtual women's circle include:
• How to decide what to write and develop a writing practice
• How to prepare a book proposal
• How authors connect with agents
• Self-publishing
• Contracts, advances, and income potential
• Heart-centered advice around writing about conflict, trauma, and grief
• The art and craft of writing and editing
• Working with an editor

Michelle has a master's degree in writing from DePaul University and a certificate in publishing from University of Chicago. She's lived in New York for twenty five years, where she's worked as a book editor at large publishing companies, and freelances for independent authors. Her writing workshops integrate mindfulness and embodied practices to achieve the flow state (and reduce stress). She is also a certified nature educator with a deep connection to the wooded mountains of the Catskills. Her essays have appeared in Insider Magazine, Hippocampus Magazine, Humans and Nature, and more.
